Readers of Blueswax, a weekly e-newsletter that is the largest subscribed blues publication in the world, have spoken, and guitarist Albert Cummings is their Artist of the Year. They also voted Kenny Neal's acclaimed CD, Let Life Flow, as the Album of the Year.
Cummings—one of the nicest guys you'll meet in the music business—released Feel So Good in late 2008, a live recording on which the guitarist "effortlessly shifts from chimey subdued stylings to raucous roadhouse raunch to soaring yet stinging lead lines." (Guitar Edge)
For Neal, Let Life Flow marks a triumphant return to recording after a long line of painful experiences over the past couple of years. It is an inspired set that draws musically from the sizzling sounds of his native Louisiana, while striking a deep, emotional resonance in response to those personal trials he endured.
Congratulations to both bluesmen!
