We just saw the release of The Beatles: Rock Band and Guitar Hero 5, and we all know the highly anticipated Guitar Hero: Van Halen is around the corner, but if you really want to ROCK, you've got to check out "Brütal Legend."

OK, so it's not a guitar-based game, so why do we care? Because the game stars comedic actor and musician Jack Black (Tenacious D guitar tab) as roadie Eddie Riggs, who "rocks demons to death and leads an army of metal heads to save the world from an ancient evil."

The game, which is due out in October, features a metal soundtrack of more than 100 songs as well as appearances by Judas Priest's Rob Halford, Motörhead's Lemmy, and the prince of darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne (guitar tab).

In an interview with Billboard, veteran game developer and mastermind behind "Brütal Legend" Tim Schafer talks about how his game stands apart from from the broader music-game genre, how music can rise above the level of a mere soundtrack, and what he believes "Brütal Legend" has in common with Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings movies.
