It may not have felt like it on the surface, but 2010 was a pretty stellar year for guitar music. As we cruise into the end of the year, we decided to take a moment to reflect on the top guitar albums of the past year. Let us know what you think below!

10. Live From the Archive Matt Schofield
The buttery bluesman serves it up with extra grit and gristle on this live recording - just the way we like our blues!

9. Slash Slash
Note to Carlos Santana: This is how you do a guitar album with a score of guest vocalists.

8. Black Country Communion Black Country Communion
Joe Bonamassa doing what he does best - tearing the roof off this mutha!

7. Nightmare Avenged Sevenfold
Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance balance terrifying technique with top-rate metal songcraft.

6. Black Swans & Wormhole Wizards Joe Satriani
An artistically mature Satch returns to his instrumental roots and creates a simply majestic guitar work in the process.

5. Renegade Creation Michael Landau & Robben Ford
Two of the tastiest players on the scene today give a clinic on smart yet gritty phrasing.

4. Order of the Black Black Label Society
Zakk Wylde's best solo output yet, and his best playing since Ozzy's No More Tears.

3. Avalanche of Worms Levi/Werstler
Has anyone coined the term "prog-shred" yet, because if not, this stunning display from Daath guitarists Emil Werstler and Eyal Levi is it.

2. AB III Alter Bridge
Mark Tremonti amazingly continues to grow and progress on the instrument, and Myles Kennedy finally gets to show off his chops, making AB a true twin-guitar beast!

1. Emotion & Commotion Jeff Beck
Um ... it's Jeff Beck. Need we say more? (Check out the live footage of "Hammerhead" below.)

Honorable mention:
The Art of Malice John 5
Last Train to Hauteville Martin Taylor
Chaos and the Primordial Francesco Artusato
To the One John McLaughlin
Up Close Eric Johnson
24 Tales Alex Machacek
