Rock Hall Unveils Short List of Inductees - Still No Rush

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has narrowed its list of nominees to the final 15 and sent it out to the 500-plus voters who will in turn select five acts to be inducted into the Rock Hall's class of 2011. The complete list is:

Beastie Boys
The Cure
Eric B. & Rakim
Guns N' Roses
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
Freddie King (about time!)
Laura Nyro
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Rufus with Chaka Khan
Small Faces/Faces
The Spinners
Donna Summer

Notable and mostly deserving, to be sure. But for yet another year, we're left with the obvious question: WHERE IS RUSH?!?! It's been 37 years since their 1974 self-titled debut, and over that time, all they've done accumulate 24 gold and 14 platinum albums, trailing only the Beatles and the Rolling Stones for most consecutive gold or platinum studio albums by a rock band. Yes, that's correct, they trail ONLY the Beatles and the Stones. In addition, after having played together now for an astonishing 43 years, Geddy, Alex, Neil (for 37 of them) still sell out arenas and amphitheaters. Let's face it, this is just plain ri-DONK-ulous now. My gods, you'd think the Rock Hall folks think this is the "real" Rush:
