1,000 People Perform the Foo Fighters "Learn to Fly" in Massive Jam

This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. This past week, on July 26, 1,000 drummers, guitarists, bassists, and singers gathered in an Italian field to perform the Foo Fighters hit "Learn to Fly."

The event was conceived by Fabio Zaffagnini over a year ago, in an effort to convince the Foo Fighters to come and play a concert in the small town of Cesena. It's not surprising that it took over a year for it all to coalesce, as Zaffagnini and his partners had to audition thousands of musicians to cull it down to the final 1,000, making sure every participant could not only play the tune but also play it in time and in perfect synchrony with the massive group.
The video below represents the glorious results of Zaffagnini and his partners' -- and the musicians' -- hard work. But beware: keep a few tissues nearby, as this performance exudes so much unadulterated joy you may shed a tear or two.
By the way, the video worked. Dave Grohl sent a video response -- in Italian, no less -- telling the group that the band will swing by Cesena!
Ci vediamo a presto, Cesena.... xxx DavidePosted by Foo Fighters on Friday, July 31, 2015
