Composed and originally recorded by legendary jazz bassist Charles Mingus, "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" was his lamentation for the great saxophonist Lester Young, who was often seen wearing the famous chapeau. Artists ranging from Bert Jansch to Joni Mitchell to Larry Coryell to Marcus Miller have covered the jazz classic, but Jeff Beck's signature take on the track has become a particularly enduring one.

In our new G-Plus Song lesson, instructor Doug Boduch walks you through all of Beck's quirky, one-of-a-kind phrases and interpretations.
