Learn to Play "I Got a Name" by Jim Croce

Posted by Michael Mueller on December 2, 2016 at 10:19 AM

Recorded by Jim Croce in 1973, "I Got a Name" was a top 10 hit for the acoustic troubadour and was also the theme song for the 1973 film The Last American Hero, starring Jeff Bridges—25 years before he would become "the Dude."

The fingerstyle riff that opens this track is both memorable and fun, and one that will require some facility with the technique, but is so rewarding once you get it down pat. In this new lesson, Doug Boduch offers expert advice for nailing all of the essential nuances. This is excellent weekend woodshed work for your fingerpicking chops.
