PRS Guitars is proud to announce new signature model SE guitar for Orianthi (Michael Jackson), Zach Myers of Shinedown, Paul Allender of Cradle of Filth, Mike Åkerfeldt of Opeth, and Nick Catanese of Black Label Society. The five models were unveiled at the 2010 Anaheim NAMM show. Built in Korea to signature artist and PRS's specifications by skilled craftsmen, PRS has worked closely with each artist to present a guitar that identifies with their style, both musically and visually.

A Tortoise Shell finish with a Opeth "O" logo on body give this guitar a unique look to complement a unique voice.
Nick Catanese and PRS have created a signature model SE worthy of Nick's "Evil Twin" moniker. Starting with an extra-thick singlecut mahogany body, the guitar tops off with a Gloss Black finish with red binding on body, neck and headstock, and and "Evil Twin" logo on body. STONE SOUR Head into the Studio for Summer 2010 Release
Grammy nominated rock powerhouse Stone Sour (Corey Taylor, James Root, Josh Rand, Shawn Economaki and Roy Mayorga) announced today the commencement of work on their first album in four years. The band will record the album—their third—in Nashville at Blackbird Studio with Grammy-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver, Rush, Alice In Chains), who also produced 2006's Come What(ever) May. The new album is due out this summer.
Frontman Corey Taylor commented, "I cannot wait to make this Stone Sour album. Everything already feels a million times stronger than anything we've done in the past. Plus getting back together with Nick is going to mean monstrous things. This is the year for Stone Sour."
Stone Sour's last album, Come What(ever) May, and their self-titled debut are both RIAA gold certified and approaching platinum status. The albums have a combined one million digital singles sales. The band has had three top 3 active rock hits with "Bother," "Through Glass," and "Silly World," one top 10 Active Rock hit with "Made of Scars," and two Modern Rock hits with "Bother" and "Through Glass," the latter of which remained at #1 on the Active Rock charts for a record seven weeks.
SYSTEM OF A DOWN 2010 Reunion?
Late last night (Monday, 1/11), System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian posted the following message on his Twitter profile: "Are u guys ready for System???"
Whether this means SOAD are planning to reunite in 2010 or not is yet to be determined. The band has been on hiatus since 2006, and in the time since then, its members have pursued various side projects. Vocalist Serj Tankian released a solo album titled Elect the Dead, while Odadjian recorded with members of Wu-Tang Clan, and guitarist Daron Malakian started a new band called Scars on Broadway, which released an album and then more or less disbanded in late 2008.
Most recently, Odadjian, Malakian, and drummer John Dolmayan performed together at Shavo's Halloween Party at the Roxy Theater in Hollywood, California, on October 31, 2009, so if Tankian is ready to reunite, it looks promising.
VINNIE MOORE Mini Lesson on Using Modes
UFO guitarist and virtuoso Vinnie Moore announced at his web site that he's embarking on a solo tour of Europe in February 2010. Backing Moore onstage will be keyboardist/vocalist Mike DiMeo, bassist Lars Lehmann, and drummer Aquiles Priester. The band will be playing lots of Moore's music from over the years as well as some covers with DiMeo on vocals. See the list of confirmed dates below.
This week, Moore will be in Anaheim, California, for the 2010 winter NAMM show, where he will be signing autographs at the Dean Guitars and Engl Amplification booths, Friday and Saturday.
We found video footage (see below the tour dates) of Moore discussing his use of modes—which ones he likes, and when he likes to use them. His examples are particularly interesting, as they cast Moore in a much more bluesy and "countrified" mood than we're used to hearing.

Previously Unreleased JIMI HENDRIX Album Due for March 9 Release
According to a report at Billboard.com, an album of previously unreleased Jimi Hendrix studio recordings, will be released on March 9, 2010, on Sony/Legacy. Valleys of Neptune includes the final studio sessions of the original Jimi Hendrix Experience lineup and Hendrix's first recordings with bassist Billy Cox.
Taken mostly from several 1969 sessions, Valleys of Neptune was originally recorded and newly mixed by Eddie Kramer, the Electric Ladyland studio engineer who worked closely with Hendrix. The title track will be released as a single globally on Feb. 2. Other highlights of the album include the only JHE studio recording of "Hear My Train A Comin'"; a searing instrumental take on Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love"; the extended stage arrangements of "Fire" and "Red House," recorded in preparation for the band's 1969 Royal Albert Hall concert recordings; and "Mr. Bad Luck," one of the only original tunes the then-unknown guitarist performed in tiny Greenwich Village nightclubs in 1966.
"It is important that everyone understand that this is not the 'lost' album," explains John McDermott, Experience Hendrix archivist, who wrote extensive liner notes for the release. "It is the documentation of an important point in his career when the original JHE was making a follow up to 'Electric Ladyland' in 1969. Once Jimi started working with Billy Cox, he started making his creative transition and left this material on the shelf."
In addition to Valleys of Neptune, Legacy Recordings is also planning deluxe CD/DVD editions of key Hendrix albums Are You Expereinced, Axis: Bold As Love, Electric Ladyland, and First Rays of the New Rising Sun for Mar. 9 release. Each DVD will include a brand new documentary about the making of its respective album, directed "Beatles Anthology" creator Bob Smeaton and feature interviews with Jimi Hendrix Experience players Mitch Mitchell, Noel Redding and Cox, as well as Kramer and original producer Chas Chandler.
Other planned 2010 Hendrix releases include a reissue of Smash Hits, the 1968 compilation of singles, b-sides and several standout JHE album tracks; a DVD and Blu-ray release of "Live at Woodstock;" and a multi-disc box set. A new documentary film is also in the works.
Additionally, the 17-date Experience Hendrix Tour 2010, which features Billy Cox as well as Joe Satriani, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and other all-star contributors, kicks off Mar. 4 in Santa Barbara, Calif.
