12-Year Old Guitarist Enlisted to Play for AC/DC

Posted by Michael Mueller on October 8, 2009 at 12:02 PM

Siobhan Ozege of Chartattack.com reports that 12-year old Canadian guitarist Spencer "Young Angus" Grabinsky played a special gig in Toronto this past Tuesday (10/6) to help promote the upcoming release of AC/DC's new deluxe box set Backtracks. You can see him ripping through "Highway to Hell" below.

Grabinsky, who not only played through much of the catalog but also dressed the part in a schoolboy outfit, calls AC/DC his heroes, and that given the chance to meet them, he'd love to "thank them for being my heroes ... they're so talented and really inspire me."

As reported here a couple of weeks ago, the AC/DC Backtracks box set contains three CDs, two DVDs, one LP, and a 164-page coffee table book, as well as other assorted memorabilia. The set will be released on November 10. To pre-order, go to ACDCbacktracks.com.

Posted by Michael Mueller on October 5, 2009 at 3:18 PM

In an era when cable news seems more interested in tea baggers and Jon and Kate plus Eight plus divorce minus Jon equals ratings hit than it is in matters that actually affect our lives, it's nice to see a feature like this one on the venerable Martin Guitar company. CNN's Chris Turner traveled through the rolling hills of Pennsylvania's farmland to the home of Martin Guitars in Nazareth, to speak with current man in charge, Christian Martin IV, about what makes Martin guitars so special and in the process how they've become an icon of the acoustic guitar industry.
