WE ARE THE FALLEN Announce Summer North American Tour
NEW YORK, NY, May 19, 2010 – The debut album Tear The World Down from Universal Republic Records' We Are The Fallen debuted at #33 this morning on the Billboard Album Chart. The first single from this iconic band, "Bury Me Alive" (see video below) continues to climb up the active rock charts and is now a Top 30 hit.
Following a short European festival run in early June which includes performances at the Download Festival in the UK, Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in Germany, the band will return to North America for a summer long tour with Saving Abel. The first fifteen dates are being announced this morning with the tour expected to run into September of this year. Rising stars Taddy Porter and American Bang will open these shows.
The quintet is comprised of former members of multi-platinum band Evanescence, guitarists Ben Moody and John LeCompt along with drummer Rocky Gray, joined by breakout American Idol finalist Carly Smithson on vocals. Acclaimed bassist Marty O'Brien (Disturbed and Static-X, among others) rounds out the line-up of this power combo.
Moody left Evanescence in 2003, and has since co-written major hits for Daughtry and Kelly Clarkson among others. Evanescence's groundbreaking 2003 album, Fallen, spent an incredible 43 weeks on the Billboard Top Ten Albums Chart, selling 15 million copies worldwide and 7 million + albums in the U.S. alone.
For Smithson, We Are The Fallen fulfills her destiny as one of rock's most potent new female voices. She first turned heads as one of "American Idol's" more engaging rock candidates, landing a controversial sixth place slot during Season 7 of the landmark television series, but not before gaining traction as one of the show's most original and uncompromising new talents. The powerful vocalist's "elimination" sent shockwaves through the "Idol" blogger nation, with her acclaimed performances on the 2008 American Idol Tour cementing her current reputation as a force to be reckoned with.
Carly Smithson will be attending the "American Idol" finale on May 26th in Los Angeles.

MARILLION Guitarist STEVE ROTHERY to Host Clinics This Week
Steve Rothery, guitarist with renowned UK Prog rock group Marillion, and his solo project, The Wishing Tree, is returning to the U.S. this week to pick up his new Jack Dent guitars in Asheville, North Carolina, and has decided to host a couple of clinics, similar to the event he held in New York this past January, while he's there. During the fan-friendly clinics, Rothery will be demonstrating his melodic and atmospheric technique for playing and writing, as well as describing his approach to working in the studio. Musicians in attendance will also have the rare opportunity to play with Steve in a jam session to be hosted by the Community Arts Café, in Winston Salem, NC. Clinic dates and times are below.
For both the clinics and the jam session, Rothery will be using his new Jack Dent guitars. Made of the finest woods, designed with the true musician or collector in mind and offering technical attributes that are unique only to his instruments, Jack Dent Guitars are synonymous with superiority, superb functionality and uncompromising design. Rothery is the first to own a custom SR Model that bears his name and sets a new precedent for tonal quality in the electric guitar.
Rothery also mentions that he's looking into giving two or three clinics in California later this year, when he comes over to write with vocalist Hannah Stobart for the new Wishing Tree album. Keep your fingers crossed!

Legendary Metal Vocalist RONNIE JAMES DIO Dead at 67
The legendary heavy metal singer—and arguably the greatest of all time—Ronnie James Dio died from stomach cancer on Sunday (May 16), at 7:45 a.m. He was 67.
His wife, Wendy Dio, posted this statement at his web site:
"Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever."
Rumors of his death began circulating late on Saturday but were debunked by the web site Metal Underground, who had contacted Wendy Dio and received a message from her that although he was not doing well, he was still alive. But Sunday morning, her worst fears were realized, and the metal world lost one of its true icons.
While fronting the band Elf, Dio was recruited by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore to sing on his new project, Rainbow, in 1975. Then, in 1979, Dio replaced Ozzy Osbourne as the lead singer of Black Sabbath. After disagreement arose during the recording of Live Evil, in 1982, he left Sabbath to form his own band, Dio, and the band's 1983 debut, Holy Diver, became one of the greatest metal albums of all time.
Dio is also credited with popularizing the now-ubiquitous "devil-horns," a hand gesture that Dio said he learned from his grandmother, who used it to ward off evil spirits.
